Juan Rodriguez-Tolentino Receives Prestigious Anthony Michael Award

 

SIB President Juan Rodriguez-Tolentino received the Anthony Michael Award for outstanding contribution and dedication to The Rotaract Club of Antigua and Barbuda for the 2004-2005 year. Rodriguez-Tolentino, a member of the Rotary Club of Antigua, served as Rotaract liaison/advisor. Presented in a ceremony at The Sticky Wicket by outgoing President Tricia Lovell and incoming President Cattrice Browne, the award recognizes Rodriguez-Tolentino's outstanding dedication to providing guidance to the Rotaract leadership team and his participation in events and meetings.

 

"I am humbled by the award," said Rodriguez-Tolentino. "It is indeed an honour, especially given the fact that Rotaract members select the recipient of this prestigious award. It is a privilege to work with such a fine group of young Antiguan and Barbudan men and women. I pledge to continue my work during the 2005-2006 year."

 

The award is named after the late Rotarian Anthony Michael, sponosr of the formation of Antigua's Rotaract Club.

 

Rotaract is a service club for young men and owmen, ages 18 to 30. It is one of the most significant and fastest-growing programmes of Rotary service, with more than 7,600 Rotaract clubs in some 158 countries, and has become a worldwide phenomenon. Typically community- or univeristy-based, the Rotaract programme augments young adults' knowledge and skills while addressing the physical and social needs of their communities. The overall goal is to promote international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.
