SIB Opened Representative Office in Montreal
Stanford International Bank announced the opening of a representative office in Montreal, effective December 2004, headed by Alain Lapointe.
The largest city in the province of Quebec and the second largest metropolitan area in Canada, Montreal is a leading commercial and financial centre in the country.
The new SIB representative office is authorized to promote Bank products and services, as well as the products and services of Stanford affiliates. This is the first licence for a representative office that Canada has granted to an independently owned bank in nearly a decade, and follows a thorough review of SIB operations and Antigua's financial sector by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) Canada.
"I see Stanford International Bank as a first-class organization that entered our market with a very distinct approach," says Alain Lapointe, senior vice president, who runs the Montreal office. "The combination of the quality of staff and a sincere care for the client makes this bank quite unique in today's world."
Lapointe joins Stanford after six years as vice president in charge of the Quebec and Atlantic Regions for Computershare Trust Company of Canada. He also served in VP positions at Laurentian Bank of Canada and La Financière Coopérants Inc., and in management positions at Cine Group Inc. and Royal Bank of Canada. Lapointe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of Montreal School of Business and a Master of Arts degree in business.
